This Sunday we encounter yet another strange story in the life of Jesus.
His neighbors try to kill him!
The real problem of people pleasing
is not just that you can't always please all the people.
The real problem of being a people pleaser
is that you lose sight of pleasing God.
Jesus never lost sight of this:
- He loved people.
- He served people.
- He gave his life for people!
But he was singularly focused on pleasing an audience of one-
His Heavenly Father.
When we make it our ambition to please God
we end up pleasing many people.
But we end up disappointing some.
This Sunday Jesus teaches us how to deal with rejection.
And how to stay focused on pleasing God and loving people.
1. Know WHOSE you are- you belong, body and soul, in life and in death, not to yourself, but to your faithful savior Jesus Christ, who at the cost of his own blood, saved your life!
2. Know WHO you are- you are a child of God! Christ loves you, died for you, rose for you and is coming again for you to redeem all of creation and spend eternity with you!
3. Know WHAT you want to do- What do you want to do with the life God has given you? Don't let anything deter or distract you from God's calling and your goals.
