In 2008 Faith Community Church embraced the vision to become a church planting church. This renewed vision lead to a partnership in the planting of City Center Church in Englewood, CO and international church planting with Mission Partners India.
But becoming a church planting church didn’t mean just one new expression. The door had been opened, and the Spirit was at work. Soon the conversation turned towards planting with the Littleton community.
In 2013 Pastor Jeff Allen met George Saylor, a church planter serving in London, Ontario, who had expressed an interest in planting in the Denver area. After a few phone calls and a face-to-face visit, plans for the Littleton Plant began to take shape.
George and his family moved to Littleton. In 2015, the Littleton Church Plant became "Apex Church." Outreach, groups and worship services began. In January 2016 we started weekly worship services at Faith Community Center, 11am Sunday mornings.
We have since moved our primary worship service to 6pm Sunday night.
Now Faith Community Church and Apex Church exist as "2 churches under 1 roof." We both use Faith Community Center, the name of our building. We're serious about that. This church isn't a building, it's the gathering of God's people in Jesus Christ, bound together in the power of the Holy Spirit. After all, the church is not a Sunday service or facility, it's the living, breathing body of Christ.
So what happens now? We live into the mission of Jesus. We love God. We love people. We do something!
Together with all of God's church we want to reach everyone. Literally. Every person in our city, and every person in our world. We want them to come to know, love and serve Jesus at their savior and Lord. We want to reach every lost, broken and hurting person.
We want to see God's house filled to overflowing, hundreds of voices singing, praying, worshiping together.
We want to see every worshiper connected to a fellowship of believers, a Life Group.
We want to see every child of God using their unique gifts to fulfill their unique calling in the Kingdom.
And just in case you're wondering, and you've read this far, we are not in this alone. Apex Church is part of the Church Multiplication Collaborative, a mission of the The Christian Reformed Church of North America and The Reformed Church of America. We are a movement of disciples making disciples, churches planting churches. George is an ordained minister with credentials in both the CRCNA and the RCA. He holds a Master of Divinity from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, a Master of Arts in Higher Education from Geneva College and a undergraduate degree in Environmental Science from Messiah College.
